Snapchat is a mobile application that allows users to send videos and pictures called a “snap” which self destruct in a few seconds after a person viewing them. Users can also add captions, or doodle or add filters to their pictures before sending it to a friend or group of friends. Additionally, users can also add a “story” to all its contacts as a 24 hour broadcast to the world or to his/her friends. Snapchat has become a new means of connecting with one another for millennials.
Companies can leverage off of Snapchat’s strong user base to build its social presence to reach new consumers and provide its existing customers with live interactions in the following ways:
Provide flash deals: The average millennials spend more time on Snapchat than another other social media platform in addition to email. Millennials spend an average of one hour a day on Snapchat. Many companies send special flash deals with big discounts through email campaigns which are usually buried in the bulk of spam emails received. A snap is more likely to be seen than an email.
See your company in a real light: Pictures and videos on Snapchat can not be perfectly photoshopped before posting. This provides users with a more real picture of your company culture and unedited style. Let your users see that your company is not staged and in a non-corporate light.
Connect with you anywhere anytime: By providing snaps at live events, trade shows, behind the scenes, your existing or new potential customers can have a live feed of what your company is up to. This experience provide users with a more intimate interaction with your company.
